Image one target with other astrophotographers and see who contributed what
Some targets need more integration time than one person can collect. DeepSkyLog lets you team up with other astrophotographers and follow everyone’s contribution to a shared target, each from their own observing site.
Working together
Invite friends, club members or online collaborators to a shared project. Everyone images the same target with their own rig, and DeepSkyLog collects the frame metadata in one shared project view. Only metadata is shared. The original FITS files stay with each contributor, and exchanging and processing the images happens outside DeepSkyLog.
Contributors can batch-import an existing FITS collection with the DeepSkyLog Uploader or the CLI, or connect the NINA plugin. Imports work with FITS files from AsiAir, KStars/Ekos, Voyager and NINA, so the team does not need to use the same capture software. Web imports and the DeepSkyLog Uploader are free. The CLI and the NINA plugin need a paid account.
Before the team imports larger batches, try one target from one night and check that the target, filters, metadata and contributor look right in the shared project. The collaboration guide explains the project setup and how frames are routed.
Who contributed what
Every frame is tagged with its contributor. For each member you see the frames and integration time per filter, when they last contributed, and the progress toward the goals as the bars fill up.
Roles
- Owner: full control over the project
- Admin: manages members and project settings
- Member: uploads frames and edits the project
- Viewer: read-only access, for observers and mentors
Who uses it
Astronomy clubs that pool narrowband data on faint targets, remote imaging groups spread over time zones, mentors and students who share a project, and friends working on a big mosaic together.
